Malcolm, are you in the right headspace to receive information that could possibly hurt you? Because the nominations for this year’s Critics Choice Awards are here. David Fincher’s Mank (Netflix) leads the nominees with 12, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Gary Oldman, Best Supporting Actress for Amanda Seyfried, and Best Director. A24’s Minari trailed with ten nominations, including Best Actor for Steven Yeun, Best Supporting Actress for Yuh-Jung Youn, Best Young Actor/Actress for Alan Kim, and Best Director for Lee Isaac Chung. Netflix tore through both the film and television categories with an overwhelming 72 nominations total. Only one of those went to Sam Levinson’s Malcolm & Marie, a Best Actress nomination for Zendaya. The late Chadwick Boseman received multiple acting nominations for his performances in Da 5 Bloods and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, for which Viola Davis also secured a nomination. Olivia Colman landed nominations for both the film The Father (Sony Pictures) and her Netflix drama The Crown, where she’s up against Princess Diana herself, Emma Corrin.
